States Department

The States Ministry (States Department) is a department under Govt. of India administrated by Minister of States. The liability of it is to develop a relationship with Independent India and deals with princely states. The department was come into existence from May 1947 to replace the political organization of British Authority. The primary aim of states departments is to supervise the conduct of affairs, administrative integration, and democratization into India.

The Indian State Govt. is ruling for states of India. The Chief Minister is the head of state government. In India, there are two types of government one is Central and other State Government. The central government is liable for external and military affairs. The state govt. is responsible for internal security as per state policy and other related state issues. The income of state government is generated from Sales Tax (VAT) and Stamp Duty.

Each state government has a legislative assembly with two houses called as Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad. The Vidhan Parishad is an upper house and equates to Rajya Sabha. On the other hand, the Vidhan Sabha is the lower house and corresponds with Lok Sabha. As per Article 370, the Jammu & Kashmir State authority is higher autonomy as compared to other states.

State High Courts: The state high courts have jurisdiction over entire state and answerable to Supreme Court of India.
