IBPS stands for Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. It is an autonomous recruitment agency of India. It came into existence in 1975 as PSS (Personnel Selection Services). During 1984 IBPS became an independent entity at the behest of Public Sector Banks and RBI (Reserve Bank of India). IBPS declared a common competitive written exam (CWE) in 2011 for an appointment of candidates as Clerks and Officer under Banks. Common Written Exam CWE
IBPS offers HRS (Human Resource Services) to Insurance Companies, LIC, IDBI, NABARD, Government Dept., 27 nationalized Banks, Regional Rural Banks and Public Sector Undertakings. Candidates can apply online at IBPS web page i.e. www.IBPS.in. After successful online, can appear for online object type paper. After that, Interview will also hold but in 2016 it dispensed against clerical cadre. Only merit list will be called for placement in Banks.
In CWE, there is also negative marking for a false attempt. In 2015, the procedure has altered two-tier system. Tier-I is a first state that is easy and Tier-II has the higher level of difficulty. For selection, candidates have to need to crack both two exams.
Syllabus of IBPS Exam: The most common subjects of IBPS Exam is English Language, General Awareness, Reasoning, Computer Knowledge, Quantitative Aptitude and Professional Knowledge.
Recruitment via IBPS Exam
IBPS is liable to conduct CWE in every year for an appointment of candidates on Clerical, PO and SO posts in State Banks/ Nationalized Banks and RRBs. Candidates can register their names online, pay a fee, download admit card and appear in PRE and Main Common Written Exam. After that, attend the interview only for IBPS SO and PO Posts. In present India, the interview is not allowed for Clerical posts.
IBPS Exam – Clerks
The IBPS Clerk exam has divided into two parts i.e. Preliminary Exam and Main Exam.
In Pre Exam, there are three sections i.e. Numerical Ability, English Language and Reasoning Ability. The paper has total 100 marks with 100 questions.
In Main Exam, there are five sections i.e. General Awareness, Computer Knowledge, English, Numerical & Reasoning Ability. It has 200 question, each different section contains 40 question.
Both these papers have negative marking for a wrong attempt at the loss of 0.25 mark.
IBPS Exam – PO (Probationary Officer)
It is divided into three phases as follows.
- Phase-I: Preliminary Objective Paper
- Phase-II: Main Objective Test
- Phase-III: Interview
The date of PRE Exam is in Oct, Main Exam conducts during October end or the start of Nov and interview will hold in January. The age of candidates for IBPS PO post is from 20 to 30 years under UR Category.
IBPS Exam – SO (Specialist Officer)
Under IBPS SO several of positions covered like Agricultural Field Officer (Scale-I), IT Officer Scale-I, Law Officer Scale-I, Rajbhasha Adhikari-I, Marketing Officer and Personnel/ HR Officer (Scale-I). The online registration for IBPS Specialist Officer Jobs is commenced from November. The tentative date of a written exam scheduled in January and result is announced in April. The exam has total two hundred question with 200 marks. It has fifty questions based on professional knowledge consist 80 marks.
IBPS Exam – RRB (Regional Rural Bank)
Under IBPS RRB there are three different positions like Officer Scale-I, II and III. There are also covered SO positions like Law Officer, Chartered Accountant, IT Officer, Marketing, and Agriculture Officer. In Clerical Cadre the Office Assistant post is also coming under IBPS RRB.
Alternative Jobs Method: As an alternative to recruitment through Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, some bank appoints PO after completion of one-year training program.
After IBPS – Bank PO Salary
The basic pay scale of Bank PO is as follows. It is not coming under Pay Commission authorized by Central Body.
- Scale-I: Rs.23700 (980/7) – 30560 – 32850 – 42020
- Scale-VII: Rs.76250 (2120/4) – 85000
